We started Safai Wala because clean shouldn't cost anything.
Garbage piles up on streets and in public spaces not because people don't care, but because there was never an easy, free way to get it picked up. So we built one — and we're using every pickup to fund a bigger mission: making waste a resource instead of a problem.
The problem we set out to fix
Unmanaged garbage sits in public spaces because reporting it is hard and pickup usually costs money. What does get collected is often dumped as a single mixed load, so recyclable material — plastic, paper, glass, e-waste — ends up in landfill instead of being recovered. And the informal recycling economy that does exist often runs on unfair pricing and unsafe conditions for the people doing the work.
We built Safai Wala to close all three gaps at once: make reporting and pickup free for anyone, sort everything we collect instead of dumping it mixed, and pay fair, transparent rates to the crews and contributors who make it possible.

Where we're headed
Every pickup today teaches us something about what people throw away and how it can be recovered. We're investing that knowledge into R&D recovery pipelines aimed at one goal: making as much of what we collect reusable as possible, instead of letting any of it reach a landfill.
As we grow, the plan stays the same — keep reporting and pickup free for everyone, keep expanding to more zones and every waste stream we can serve, and keep proving that a cleaner earth and a sustainable business can be the same thing.
